Add a screenshot tool to Claude with a Grabbit connector
Claude can connect to remote MCP servers from claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Cowork, and mobile. Add Grabbit once, enable it in a conversation, then ask Claude to capture a public page.
Prerequisites
From setup to the first capture
- A Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise account
- A Grabbit account for OAuth
- Team and Enterprise owners must add the connector before members connect
1. Open Customize → Connectors.
2. Choose Add custom connector.
3. Enter https://mcp.grabbit.live
4. Save, choose Connect, and complete OAuth.
5. Enable Grabbit from + → Connectors in a conversation.Claude remote connectors are brokered through Anthropic infrastructure. Grabbit uses OAuth so an API key does not need to appear in the conversation.
A test key returns a placeholder for wiring. The visual check below requires a live key and available credits. Call get_usage before a run when the agent needs to avoid an HTTP 402 interruption.
Call grab and inspect the result
Capture https://example.com at 1440×900 and tell me what the primary call to action says.Expected result
Claude calls grab and receives a completed capture with a hosted image URL. Compatible clients can also display image content inline.
Image handling
If Claude shows a link, open image_url. If it renders an inline image card, inspect that same capture in the conversation.
Troubleshooting
401 or authentication required
Complete the client OAuth flow, or check that the environment variable contains a current sk_ key.
The target URL is rejected
Use a public HTTP or HTTPS URL. Grabbit blocks localhost, private, link-local, and internal network targets.
The image is a placeholder
An sk_test_ key proves the integration without spending credits. Use an sk_live_ key when you need a real render.
402 credits_exhausted
Call get_usage, then add a separately purchased top-up or wait for the next annual subscription grant before retrying.
Security note
Connect only remote MCP servers you trust. Review tool approvals and disable tools a conversation does not need.
Hosted screenshots without a browser in the agent runtime
A local headless browser means installing Chromium, keeping its dependencies current, bounding memory use, and handling timeouts. Grabbit runs the screenshot step on hosted rendering infrastructure and returns an image URL.

- No. Claude uses the Connectors settings UI. Claude Code uses the claude mcp add command and its local MCP configuration.
